Himalayan Festival is now “Talk of Town”. Though Himalayan Festival is being conducted even in past years too but this time it hit the ground of success. Three days continuous mega event was really the complete package of entertainment with the great motto of encouraging youths, preserving culture and the message of peace and cooperation to every communities in USA.
The main attraction of the event was the Miss Bhutan USA 92014) where Prakriti Rai won the crown of Mis Bhutan USA( 2014) and award of Miss Personality too went in her hand. On the same way Sita Bhujel lift the crown of 1st runner up(2014) with also the crown of Miss Popularity. Dawazan Magar who lifted the crown of Miss Bhutan USA (2014) 2nd runner up. Nira Acharya won the best smile award. The last top five final nominees where Dawazan Magar, Sita Bhujel, Sujata Basnet, Prakriti Rai, Tara Tamang. The former Miss Nepal Malvika Subba was the trainer and choreographer.
Soccer, Dancing, Singing and short movie competition where other important events. Karen D9D Soccer Club(from Burma/Burmis community USA) won the soccer final. Manita Gurung from Rochester New York became Himalayan Festival USA (2014) dancing Icon and Leena Rai from Phoenix, Arizona stood second for the same. On the other hand Rupesh Rai from Nashville, Tennesse grab the Himalayan Festival USA(2014) singing Icon title and Bijaya Lamgade from Salt Lake, Utah won the second title of singing Icon.
Kedar Upreti with his team under the banner “BHUTANESE CREATIVE CONNECTION” lifted the best short movie award. Viplop Pratik, Madan Pathak, Prem Raja Mahat, Nalina Chitrakar, Deepak Gajmer, Sumit Sigdel were the jury for the competition.
Local Bhutanese Artist Jiwan Gurung, Siva Makchan, Talman Thapa, D.B. Baraili, Dhan, and Flamingo Band presented their best performance. Besides this well renown artist like Rajesh Payal rai, Jagadish Samal, Santi Bhandari, Prem Raja Mahat, Nalina Chitrakar rocked the event.
Thanks giving speech of Himalayan Festival USA – CEO, Rajen Giri was remarkable too. This mega event was hosted by Bhutanese American Association of Houston.
