Hundreds of Bhutanese American Karate players and lovers from across the country gathered and kick off their First National Convention & Silver Jubilee Celebration 2017 on Nov.23-25 held in different locations in Atlanta, Georgia electing new chair Mr. Hemant Lama (Ghising).
With the convention theme Disciplined & Healthy Community, Druk American Shito Ryu Karate Do (DASRKD) as host conducted such a grand event of its kind ever first time in American Bhutanese community history. Sensei Dr. Ravee Raghavan(8th Dan) from Puerto Rico was present as the guest of honor and Chief Examiner for grading and recertification. Remarkable presence of delegates and representatives from different organizations and community leaders symbolizes that event was hugely supported and welcomed by public.

President of Bhutanese American Sports Council Mr. Santa Lama, Global Bhutanese Literary Organization – president and litterateur Mr. Denzome Sampang, OBCA president Mr. Dilip Dahal, community leaders like Mr. Hasta Pradhan, Dhan J Khaling, litterateur Mr. AK Rana Sampang, Kirat Community Organization of America Inc. – KCOA president Mr. Suman Suhang, Youth entrepreneur Mr. Bikash chettri, Mr. TP Mishra from Bhutan News Service and Mr. Jay Bantawa from Bhutan Darpan, BAMA president Mr. Bikash Thulung are personalities some to name who attended the event as the special guests.
Participants and mass appreciated when Mr. Phurba Lama from Charlotte, NC and Mr. Ajir Man Rai from Atlanta, GA received the lifetime achievement award for their sincere services in the field of Shito Ryu Karate Do. While, some of the highlights of the event includes:

4122 E Ponce De Leon Avenue, Suite#2, Clarkston, GA 30021 and 5135 Memorial Dr, Stone Mountain, GA 30083 served as two different formal venue for the convention. Resposibiity of convener was taken care by Heman Ghising, Seminar was conducted by Sensei Dr. Ravee Raghavan, Sensei T.R. Rai and assisted by Sensei Hiran Lama and Senpai Purna Tamang, Senpai Tila Chand Dhimal where there to support them. Senpai Mr. Madan Rai & Senpai Mr. Raj Baral played a role of master of ceremony.
