$43,467.00 Facilitated to ECDC in First Fiscal year Reports GBO First Convention

Global Bhutanese Organization-GBO had its First Annual Convention in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on November 27, 2021, hosted by Bhutanese Community in Harrisburg (BCH) focusing on updates of overall its activities, financial report of the fiscal year and projected budget for years to come.

Local government officials, Mr. Tom Connolly, (Commissioner, Swatara Township Board President), Ms. Shaela Ellis (Commissioner, Swatara Township) and Bill Lockard, Program Director of DeafCAN graced the event as special guests and expressed their support to Bhutanese Communities.

According to their press release, it has reported that GBO has facilitated $43,467.00 as financial support to ECDC early childhood education project operating in Beldangi and Patharisanischare Camps in Nepal. The fund is collected through the join effort of resettled Bhutanese communities across the globe. So far GBO has enrolled twelve staff in Beldangi and five staff in Patharisanischare to run and manage ECDC early childhood education project.

Talking to us, President Mr. DB Rai said “Program was grand success. Since we are working on common goal to support Bhutanese refugee children remaining in the refugee camp for educational program, we felt that convention was able to convince the public and got assurance of their acceptance.”

The executive members and representatives, Deepak Giri, (Georgia) Jhalak Adhikari (Tennessee), Ganga Tiwari (Massachusetts), Bishnu Khadka (New Hampshire), Biswaz Gurung (Michigan), Chandra Sitaula (Scranton, Pennsylvania), BB Poudyel (Cincinnati, Ohio), Shiva Dahal, (Kentucky), Taran Tiwari (Massachusetts), Bhim Gurung (Nebraska), Mukesh Gurung, Jaganath Adhikari and Ranjit Pradhan (Harrisburg, Pennsylvania) had presented their city and state updates respectively, in the convention. Along with this GBO representatives outside USA, Bishnu Adhikari & Team (Denmark), Prem Giri (President, BWA UK), Bal Ghimire (President, BSNZ, New Zealand), Kamal Dahal & Suman Chhetri (Australia), Bhanu Dhungana (Canada), Ram Karki (Netherlands), Purna Gurng (ECDC Beldangi Secretary), Laxmi Neopaney, Champa Singh Rai (Camp Secretary Sanischare), Krishna B. Subba (the Camp Secretary Beldangi) and Devendra Pokhrel (regional manager, CARITAS Nepal) had virtually joined with the convention.

On the convention GBO honored with a small token of love, individually to their donors and partnering organizations, Kirat Community Organization of America (KCOA) President Raju Idhingo, Bhutanese Kirat Rai Organization of America (BKROA) President Amber Rai, Neoly Home Care LLC CEO & President Narad Pokhrel and to all volunteers and its representatives in recognition of their humane contributions.

Biswanath Chhetri, Governor Wolf’s Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs and BCH Advisory member voiced his supports and donated $500 to GBO to support for children education in the camp. In our phone query, vice President Mr. Som Nath Dhakal told us that to appeal the communities for continue support was yet another mission of conducting convention.  Neoly Home Care LLC CEO & President Narad Pokhrel expressed continued support.
