Kathmandu, April 23: The English translation of “Maile Dekheko Durbar”, the bestselling book by former Military secretary to the king, Vivek Kumar Shah, has hit the bookstores. First published in 2010, Maile Dekheko Durbar” had created ripples in political circles.
Titled “Witnessing Palace, Power and Politics”, the book takes us deep into the intrigues at the Narayanhiti Royal Palace and provide an inside-view into the momentous events of our times: the Royal Palace Massacre, King Gyanendra’s wresting of all executive powers, the Maoists’ armed rebellion and its genesis and the forces backing it, the Comprehensive Peace Agreement between Nepal’s mainstream political parties and the Maoists, the end of monarchy, and the arrival of republicanism in Nepal.
