On July 25th 2015, the Bhutanese community people of Connecticut have successfully observed 3th literary conference and 202nd Bhanu jayanti together in Hartford, Connecticut. The event was organized by the Bhutanese Community of Connecticut in partnership with Organization of Bhutanese communities in America (OBCA), and Hartford Public Library; supported by Bhutanese welfare Community of western Massachusetts and Hindu Sanatan Sewa Samaj. A dynamic personality, Mr. Padam kumar Bharati, the newly elected secretary of OBCA, gracefully chaired the event.
Mr. Om Prakash Rai formally welcomed the invited guests, participants, community members, volunteers, and audience and inaugurated the program garlanding and lighting the candles on the Bhanu Bhakta’s image through chairperson with all invited guests.
The event was organized to honor the Nepali Pioneer Poet Bhanu Bhakta Acharya for his invaluable contribution to beef-up Nepali literature and motives to furtherance and preserve Nepali literature, language, arts, and culture in diaspora. Literally, the celebration was attended by around two hundred people and about three dozen litterateurs had recited their gazals, poems, Haikus, and rubaiyat along with the participants from Canada and United Kingdom (UK).
Addressing the program, chief quest Mr. Matt Poland, the CEO of public Hartford library extended cordial gratitude to Bhutanese Community of Connecticut for bringing reach and unique culture in the city of Hartford.
Another guest speaker professor Dr. Khagendra Luitel, Nepali department head from Tribhuwan University of Nepal portrayed the adhikabi Bhanu Bhakta archarya’s contribution in Nepali literature and highlighted that Bhanu Bhakta is not the first poet but he was the first poet who did an outstanding literary works of the interior essence of Nepali poetry and literature. Herewith Dr. Luitel also added that Bhanu Bhakta shouldn’t be publicized wrongly and racially, because he is not exclusively adhikavi for any race or cast or Nepalese, but he is the ‘Adhikavi’ of an entire Nepali Speaking People dwelling around the globe.
Meantime, Bhutanese high school students graduated in 2015 were honored with traditional khadas and certificate.
Speaking in the event, Mr. Shankar Dhakal the president of Nepalese association also expressed sincere appreciation to OBCA and Bhutanese community of Connecticut for promoting Nepali literature, language, arts and culture by organizing such literary function frequently despite of busy American schedule. Furthermore, Mr. President also said, “Nepalese Association of Connecticut is always open to work collaboratively and ready to join hands with Bhutanese Community of Connecticut for the sake of both Communities”.
Besides that celebration had also been enthralled with typical disappearing Nepali musical instrument Murchunga played by 75 years old, Mrs. Jas Mati Rai from Springfield, Massachusetts. In addition, audiences were entertained with comedy presentations, cultural dances and solo songs, and the event was live broadcasted at www.hpclct.org.
Prosperously program was mastered and guided by most influential and high-spirited person Mr. Rup Bharati (president of Bhutanese community of Hartford, Connecticut). Awesome masters of Ceremonies were raising litterateur Mr. Dhan Lepcha from Boston, Massachusetts and Mr. Lachu Acharya from host Community. The program was concluded after vote of thanks delivered by program chairperson.
