Our five-day visit to Cancun, Mexico, was one such journey: unplanned moments, shared laughter, cultural discoveries, and the quiet realization of how warmth, human and natural can heal tired souls.
This was not just a vacation. It was a celebration of friendship, resilience, and life itself.

Day 1: Delays, Detours, and Unexpected Joy
The journey did not begin smoothly. Our flight from IAD was canceled, forcing all 12 of us friends from different states to pause before we could even take off. Yet, that delay became the first lesson Mexico taught us before we even reached there: sometimes, detours bring better memories.
Thanks to the Annapurna Insurance Agency, Krishna Khanal sir, where we work not just as colleagues but as a family, arrangements were quickly made. We stayed at a beautiful Airbnb near IAD airport, a spacious house with 15 bedrooms, table tennis, and a pool.
As evening settled in, the house filled with Nepali karaoke songs, ghazals, poetry, and laughter. Games stretched into midnight, and exhaustion surrendered to joy. We slept around 1:00 AM, knowing that the trip had already begun without Mexico yet in sight.

Quote of the Day:

“कस्तो प्लेनले छोडेर कस्टोमर सर्भिसँग बाझ्दा बाझ्दा गरेर आएजस्तो अनुहार बनाको?? 😜”

Day 2: From Cold Winds to Caribbean Warmth
We woke up early, fueled by coffee, snacks, and anticipation. An Uber took us back to IAD, where we visited the Capital One Lounge, a reminder that small comforts matter when journeys stretch longer than expected.
Vegetarian travelers enjoyed oatmeal, fruits, and coffee, while others had sandwiches and drinks. The service was exceptional, special thanks to Sushil, the bar attendant, and Santosh, who ensured everything was perfect.
Finally, after a day’s delay, we boarded our flight to Cancun. Flying 1,354 miles, watching the rooftops of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida pass below us, felt symbolic as if we were shedding routine layer by layer.
We landed in Cancun at 5:00 PM, greeted by an 85-degree tropical breeze.
