{"id":5090,"date":"2026-10-03T22:24:00","date_gmt":"2026-10-03T22:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/globalpostinfo.us\/en\/?p=5090"},"modified":"2026-10-05T01:42:39","modified_gmt":"2026-10-05T01:42:39","slug":"minister-pun-tokma-discuss-it-investment-and-jobs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globalpostinfo.us\/en\/2026\/10\/03\/minister-pun-tokma-discuss-it-investment-and-jobs\/","title":{"rendered":"Minister Pun, TOKMA Discuss IT Investment and Jobs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><span style=\"color: #999999;\">Arjun Pradhan<\/span> <br \/>Kathmandu \u2014Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, Mahabir Pun, has held discussions with Dr. Kumar Gurung, CEO of US-based Tokma Digital Corporation (TDC), and members of the company\u2019s leadership team on foreign investment, innovation, and employment opportunities in Nepal\u2019s information-technology sector.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting focused on making Nepal more attractive for technology-related foreign direct investment, expanding skilled employment for Nepali professionals and strengthening collaboration among government agencies, universities, private companies and innovators. Dr. Gurung introduced TOKMA \u2013 One Stop Services, a digital platform aimed at connecting customers with trusted service providers through a single application. He said Nepal is central to TOKMA\u2019s long-term strategy, with a significant part of its workforce already based in the country.<\/p>\n<p>He further highlighted several obstacles to IT investment in Nepal, including lengthy approval procedures, foreign-exchange and regulatory barriers, weak intellectual-property protection, gaps between university education and industry demand, limited digital infrastructure and a shortage of highly skilled professionals. The delegation said that Tokma Technologies Pvt. Ltd. had taken about six months to obtain FDI approval and urged the government to introduce faster, transparent and fully digital procedures for international investors. The meeting also discussed the possible establishment of a Nepal IT Research and Innovation Center under the National Innovation Center. The proposed facility would support research, product development, commercialization, startup growth and collaboration among government, academia and the private sector.<\/p>\n<p>TOKMA additionally proposed an Annual Information Technology Summit and Exhibition, designed to bring together policymakers, investors, technology firms, universities, innovators and entrepreneurs. The company expressed interest in organizing the event through a public-private partnership, while Minister Pun advised the leadership team to consult the Prime Minister before taking the proposal forward. Minister Pun welcomed private-sector initiatives that promote innovation, technology education, research and job creation.
