The peaceful march to democracy has been a steady one.<sup id=\"cite_ref-1\"><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Politics_of_Bhutan#cite_note-1\">[1]<\/a><\/sup> The <a title=\"King of Bhutan\" href=\"http:\/\/bhutandarpan.com\" target=\"_blank\">King of Bhutan<\/a> is <a title=\"Head of state\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Head_of_state\">head of state<\/a>. <a title=\"Executive power\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Executive_power\">Executive power<\/a> is exercised by the <a title=\"Lhengye Zhungtshog\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lhengye_Zhungtshog\">Lhengye Zhungtshog<\/a>, or council of ministers, headed by the <a title=\"Prime Minister of Bhutan\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Prime_Minister_of_Bhutan\">Prime Minister<\/a>. <a title=\"Legislative power\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Legislative_power\">Legislative power<\/a> is vested in the bicameral <a title=\"Parliament of Bhutan\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Parliament_of_Bhutan\">Parliament<\/a>, both the upper <a title=\"National Council of Bhutan\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/National_Council_of_Bhutan\">National Council<\/a> and the lower <a title=\"National Assembly of Bhutan\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/National_Assembly_of_Bhutan\">National Assembly<\/a>. A royal edict issued on April 22, 2007 lifted the previous ban on <a title=\"Political party\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Political_party\">political parties<\/a>, ordering that they be created, in anticipation of National Assembly elections to be held the following year.<sup id=\"cite_ref-2\"><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Politics_of_Bhutan#cite_note-2\">[2]<\/a><\/sup> In 2008, <a href=\"http:\/\/bhutandarpan.com\">Bhutan<\/a> adopted its first modern <a title=\"Constitution of Bhutan\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Constitution_of_Bhutan\">Constitution<\/a>, codifying the institutions of government and the legal framework for a democratic <a title=\"Multi-party system\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Multi-party_system\">multi-party system<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/globalpostinfo.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/600px-Bhutan_emblem.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-179 alignleft\" alt=\"600px-Bhutan_emblem\" src=\"http:\/\/globalpostinfo.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/600px-Bhutan_emblem-300x300.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Geographically <a href=\"http:\/\/bhutandarpan.com\" target=\"_blank\">Bhutan<\/a> is land lock, beautiful mountain country. But the dirty politics of ethnic cleansing policy always stands as a black stain in her face unless and until she confess her prejudice on her innocent people.
